Yes of course, massage will benefit the stiff neck and shoulder pains you’ve been feeling but it is important to have regular sessions. One massage a year will not alleviate a lifetime of stress and tension. We aren’t miracle workers. Taken over a period we can start to break down fascia and muscle tension, adhesions and any underlying scar-tissue build up from damage caused by accidents and injuries.
Generally speaking good maintenance is anywhere between once a month to twice a month, depending on your lifestyle but for those who have more chronic conditions or are more active, once a week or every other week to optimise your muscles efficiency and alleviate any aches and pains.
What is seated acupressure massage?
Seated acupressure massage or chair massage is fully clothed, the massage is performed whilst you are sat in a specially designed chair, no oils are applied during this massage, it is a great way to introduce someone to massage if a person has never received a massage before.
Acupressure is based on realignment and grounding a persons, meridian lines, based on a Chinese idea of energy running through our bodies called chi, the therapists job is to unblock these chi point so we can create better energy flow and promote better wellbeing for the individual, as well as creating flexibly as suppleness.
What’s the difference between a seated acupressure massage (S.A.M) and a body massage on a table?
The main differences between the two are:
What’s the difference between Deep tissue Massage and Swedish massage?
Swedish massage involves French based techniques, that consist of soft, long kneading strokes and tapping, also using a lighter touch, that is more rhythmic and usually focusing on the top layer of muscles to help relieve muscle tension, blood circulation, boost immunity as well as a whole host of others benefits.
This massage can be used for both relaxation purposes or an energising treatment.
Deep tissue massage involves applying sustained, prolonged much deeper and slower strokes, to help breakdown deeper muscles and connective tissue (fascia) this massage is best used as a treatment for muscles strains, sports injuries and people who are seated for long periods.
What is aromatherapy massage?
Aromatherapy massage is all the benefits of Swedish massage with the added element of essential oils, these oils are high in minerals and vitamins that when absorbed via the skin and inhaled during the treatment assist towards additional relaxation, anxiety and depression reliever, boosts mood an alleviates stress levels.
I have a specific injury; can you ensure the injury won’t be aggravated?
The consultation form is your opportunity to inform the therapist of your injuries and concerns. The therapist will remain in communication throughout the treatment to make sure you are comfortable.
Do please remember we are not miracle workers, one session a year will not alleviate a lifetime of tension build up, we suggest having several treatments to allow time for your body to adjust to the treatment, as each reaction to the treatment is different from client to client.
